Manna started out as a musical Sunday afternoon concept, but is now venturing into organising parties at night, with a first collaboration with Bota Bar coming up. For this first Night Sessions edition, we have invited Roger 23. Part of the Swayzak Soundsystem and firmly established as a dj that spins deep, moving and relentless house and electro, he's also an accomplished producer with releases on Playhouse, Volt, etc. Accompanied by Manna residents MCK and Sensu, the first Manna Night Session will blow the underground into the overground once again, right until dawn this time.

After years of fruitful collaboration, meakusma is stopping over for the last time at the train station Recyclart on December 15th.To say thank you to all the people who have been involved in these events we have put together a huge line-up, which is in our eyes a very good representation of contemporary electronic dance music right now... First there will be without exaggeration one of the most prolific artists in the whole electronic dance music scene - Surgeon - presenting one of his heavy electronica-techno-dubstep- dj/live sets.... Is there anything more we need to say about this person?! Surgeon's set will be especially accompagnied by Visual Artist Kinesis. Since our goal was and still is to present new artists to belgians and events not been categorised in any particular music “movement” we have again managed to invite 3 artists from different horizonts presenting theirs first live performances in Belgium ! Starting with a live performance of legendary MMM, the collaborative project of Berghain-Resident Dj Fiedel and Errorsmith from Smith n Hack, who released with „Donna“ and „MMM1“ 10 years ago without doubt two of the most definitive and timeless dancefloor 12“ ever ! Now MMM is reactivated - a new live set is ready, which contains some new tracks, which will be released soon. Then there will be Omen Jots from the secretive Glasgow-based Ampoule label. Omen Jots is the more twisted, hardcore-acidfunk-lunacy-for-the-dancefloor site of Ampoule founder PUB, also known as Lucky & Easy or Moped Endo. Think along the lines of Aphex's „Quoth“ but with a more mechanical feel and you're getting there. Omen Jots set will be especially accompagnied by Visual Artist Antonin de Bemels.As third of the exclusive artists, we are proud to present the UK `s RUSTIE, the wee man behind the „Jagz the Smack“ EP – one of the hottest bastard offspring of hip-hop, grime and techno releases of 2007 - Bass fuelled aquacrunkstep mentalism that’s gonna rock your bedrooms and parties. Accompagnied with afro-european Shaman, an unclassified dj, playing a weird synthesis of energy & sick soulful tendencies, and east-belgian based dj Taxwram, who combines in his sets minimal-techno with styles like dub, ambient and electronica; they will present a strictly danceable mixture of todays electronic music. After our first successful event at Restzeit with the Werkdisc labelnight, we are happy to present with Ampoule another one of our favorite labels coming from the UK. Labelowner Pub aka Lucky & Easy brings us his very warm electronica and intriguing rhythms, "The Black Dog" once used to make, as well like as the sounds of "BOC", and it even reminds to "The Orb", with its psychedelic excursions". Accompagnied with Glasgow's Ampoule DJ Rusty Bawz and Brussels DJ Sensu from the Plain colletive. - guaranteed to spoil you ears and legs with their mixture of dubstep, deep house and warm techno music.

For the second time this year our train will be stopping at the „Recyclart“ station, and from there on we'll continue in all different directions of electronic dance music. The first stop is with Scotland-based Neil Landstrumm. He will present his new masterpiece "Restaurants of Assassins", which has recently been released on Planet Mu. His style is classic UK techno; cool breaks spiced with dubstep elements. Secondly, we'll salute the Italian-based Wang Inc., who along with Matmos and Dr. Rockit, continues to be one of the most original and best artist combining dance music and „musique concrète“. The next stop is with Suzi Wong, the first lady from the Dönerlounge, Tresor, Maria and E-Werk clubs, where she became famous for her irresistible „wumms“ between techno, pumpin` house, electro and crude sounds to the max. She has become more well known after touring with artists like Blake Baxter, RJD2 and Juan Atkins. At the last stop we'll enjoy Actress and Lukid from the currently high staked label „Werk Discs“, a label describing itself as a „non genre specific guerilla record label of weird squonky electronic dance music. For our second edition of manna, we have invited England's Sam Shackleton for his first appearance in Belgium. Given the success of our first edition with Benjamin Brunn, this second Manna will be a further fine tuning of the intention we have to create the 'perfect' Sunday chill out. Engaging and challening music in a setting that allows you to listen, dance or meet up with people... Also, we have again invited our Manna 'resident' chef JLG to again cook for us. Given the fact it's summer (a Belgian summer though), this Manna will take place at the reopened café Walvis. After a long period of abstinence, hörBar and meakusma are joining forces again to present a very special night at K2/Capitol in Eupen on the 11th of May. This time both organisations are happy to present René Löwe and DJ Pete alias Scion/ Substance & Vainqueur, two legends from Berlin's Chain Reaction-Basic Channel family. Their solo projects as well as their collaboration gained cult status and cannot be overlooked in the history of electronic dance music. The background is House/Techno from the early nineties, and was later deeply influenced by Reggae/Dub. After a certain time out on the vinyl market , Substance and Vainqueur aka Scion are back and tie up where they stopped several years ago - endless space echo techno or deep dub house that could only have been penned and issued by someone who at one time or another worked deep inside Basic Channel's hallowed chambers. In addition to our headliner from Berlin we are happy to have our chocolate lover supreme Roger 23 again, steady stalwart of the Swayzak family and producer of labels such as Playhouse, 240 Volt, !K7 etc. As a member of the Swayzak soundystem, he's always traveling around the globe and hypnotising his audience with a selection including electro, techno, raw house music and all sorts of experimental eccentricities. To wrap up the musical part of the event there will be Dj Exit - one of east belgium's oldest DJ, longtime radio presenter at Radio Herman and Alive Festival resident and Brussels Solariumface who will float inbetween instrumental/abstract hiphop, dub, jazzy tunes, indie stuff, ambient, illbient and other experimental sounds. The first meakusma event in 2007 will take place at Recyclart on Saturday, March 31st . On the line up will be Gez Varley, who together with Mark Bell wrote techno history under the name LFO. They remixed and produced with artists such as Afrika Bambaataa, Karl Bartos, Radiohead, Depeche Mode, etc. He left LFO in 1997 and has since released a great number of albums and singles using different monikers. His work as a solo artist made him one of the pioneers of minimalistic techno. ?Shon?, his latest masterpiece, which appeared on the Finnish label Keys of Life, reminisce early Sähkö releases and also has some strong Detroit influence. We are also lucky to have another legend from the UK electronic music scene , Clatterbox. He appeared amongst others on the legendary ?Theory of Evolution? compilation , released mindblowing albums on Clear, remixed Dj Vadim, set up his own Z-Bop label and has recently released a fantastic EP on Andrea Parker?s Touchin? Bass label. V.L.A.D., the third artist performing live, will play his harsh and tangled electrobeats which appeared in the recent years on labels such as Laboratory Instinct, Warp or Angström. We are expecting a killer performance like the one at Laboratory Instinct?s marathon last year. In addition to these three live performances we are happy to have Roger 23, steady stalward of the Swayzak family and producer of labels such as Playhouse, 240 Volt, etc. He will play a pingpong set with his old friend and brother in crime Paul David, the creative director of Airbag Craftworks and resident Dj at Robert Johnson. Their record selection includes electro, techno, raw house music and all sorts of experimenal eccentricities. To wrap up the musical part Shaman, co-founder of Shadowboxing, will do a Warm Up Set rich in variety and will be in our eyes a perfect representative of Belgium of this evening. The visual aspect of the event will be covered by the Vj Duo Rouge, member of the lamadameaveclechien collective. Make sure you come early !

meakusma has achieved to put together a very special event at which three artists/bands will do an exclusive performance in Belgium. The main guests are none other than the San-Francisco-duo Matmos who will perform live their most recent masterpiece ?The Rose Has Teeth In The Mouth Of A Beast?. This new album is a series of "sound portraits" of a pantheon of people that they admire. It's at once Matmos?s most melodic and most conceptual record and will be performed live together with Zeena Parkins. Furthermore, there will be Detroit-born Dabrye, a.k.a James T Cotton, Tadd Mulinix and Sk-1. Five years after his debut album, Dabrye has successfully produced a Hip-Hop album that has been recognised by both the Hip-Hop Underground scene and the Electronic Music magazines. Dabrye will be accompanied by MC Kadence at his European tour. The programme continues with Daniel Meteo from Berlin who will perform his debut album ?Peruments?. The owner of label imprint Metesound and the other part of ?Bus?, has managed to create in this new album a unique combination from elements of Dub / Downbeat, House and Soul. Last but not least, we have the pleasure of seeing Uské Orchestra perform his latest album ?Niko et la Berlue? (released on Sonig) live on stage.
